A Hawkins County man who was arrested with an accomplice last month accused of rustling 10 cows and a bull has been named in a sealed Hawkins County grand jury indictment accusing him of stealing a truck.
Dennis Lee Murrell, 29, 149 Terrace View, Rogersville, has been in the Hawkins County Jail since his May 18 arrest for one count of theft over $10,000 for the alleged theft of the cows and bull.
On Tuesday he was served with a sealed indictment warrant on a new count of theft over $10,000 pertaining to the theft of a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cam pickup from an Arrington Road residence on Feb. 13.
The owner told the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office that the truck had a for sale sign on it, and someone took the truck for a test drive on Feb. 13 and didn’t return it.
That truck, valued at $10,000, was located behind a barn on Stanley Valley Road on Feb. 16.
Murrell remains held on $50,000 bond, but is scheduled to appear in Hawkins County Criminal Court Friday on the new sealed indictment theft over $10,000 charge. More....
