Five suspected rhino poachers were caught and arrested outside the Rietvlei Nature Reserve, the Hawks said on Monday evening.
Spokesman Captain Paul Ramaloko said the Hawks together with the police canine and flying squad units received information around 11pm on Sunday evening about a group of poachers who were on their way to the Rietvlei Nature Reserve.
"The Hawks and police responded to the tip off and waited for the group of poachers outside the nature reserve. Five men, aged between 22 and 52, were arrested along the Delmas/ R50 road.
"Their two vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Hilux was impounded while three firearms were also confiscated."
Ramoloko said investigations revealed that the youngest of the group, the 22-year-old was out on bail after he was previously arrested for the same offence, suspected poaching.
"The five men were expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
