A Green River man pleaded guilty recently to illegally killing a mule deer buck on the Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge and transporting it off of the refuge.
Travis Price agreed to pay $4,000 in restitution and $600 for the complete, professional taxidermy of the deer, which will be displayed in the wildlife refuge’s Environmental Education Center, according to a release from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
Transporting an illegally killed animal from a federal refuge or out of the state is a violation of the Lacy Act and carries penalties of up to five years in prison and, or a $250,000 fine.
Anyone with information on any wildlife violation can call the STOP Poaching Hotline at 1-877-943-3847, report it to local game wardens or Game and Fish regional offices or online at http://gf.state.wy.us/stoppoaching.
