The Senegalese authorities plan to check four fishing boats, two of which are owned by the Russian fisheries agency, on suspicion of poaching in Senegalese waters, Senegalese Minister of Fishing and Maritime Affairs Ali Heidar said on Tuesday.
“A French airplane, which was engaged for aerial survey to fight against poaching, four boats have been spotted poaching in Casamance, southwestern Senegal,” France Presse quotes him as saying. “We have identified two ships. They are owned by the Russian fisheries agency. We have established their location and now are planning to inspect them, for which ends we are going to get in contact with the Russian embassy in Dakar and the Russian fisheries agence.
