Chiefs in Narok County want the Government to provide them with police for them to effectively fight runaway crime and poaching menace.
They said at least two police officers should be deployed to all locations, charging that their lives were in danger because of the nature of their work.
“The Government should consider our request. We operate without armed policemen yet we are supposed to arrest armed criminals, including poachers,” said their spokesperson, the Entoltol location Chief, Samson Ntaiya.
Speaking at a security consultative meeting in Narok town, the administrators said they had in the past requested the Office of the President to arm them but the request was not implemented, leaving them at the mercy of armed criminals.
“We are now living in a dynamic environment where crime has become the order of the day. Apart from not being armed, we are not mobile because we lack vehicles,” said Ntaiya.
