The forgotten gem of Zimbabwe; Chizarira is a truly wild and stunning section of protected land in Zimbabwe. Although protected, the park faces some of the worst poaching in the country. We discovered numerous remains of elephants with their skulls damaged from the hacking out of their ivory. Whilst viewing one of these remains, we heard a shot go off less than 500m away. Thankfully the International Anti Poaching Foundation (IAPF) headed by Damien Mander, have established themselves in the park since then to fight the war against these poachers and their activities.Otherwise, an incredible National Park with numerous natural springs, and breathtaking camping spots on the cliffs of the escarpment, where we spent days with a breeding pair of Verreaux's (Black) eagles. Many photos.
