Wildlife officials are looking for information on a mountain lion poached last week south of Whitehall in Madison County.
The Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks said the female mountain lion was shot to death on Point of Rocks Road.
In Region 3, all mountain lion hunting districts are quota-based, and most quotas in the region have already been met, including the quota for lion HD 320/333, where this shooting took place.
Winter hunting season for female mountain lions closed Dec. 12, and hunting season for all lions closed Dec. 22.
FWP asks anyone with information about the poaching to call 1-800-TIP-MONT. Callers may be eligible for a reward.
