Game wardens with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department are hoping to learn who killed a bull moose near Eagle Rock in the Pole Mountain area during the 2012 hunting season.
Game Warden Kelly Todd discovered an old carcass of a bull moose just west of Eagle Rock off Forest Service Road 714. The moose had a small caliber hole consistent with a .223 caliber bullet in the right scapula. It had apparently been killed during the fall or winter of 2012.
The antlers were removed just above the burr and some of the edible meat was left behind. Hunters are required to take all edible portions of meat from game animals. Edible portion means the meat of the front quarters, hindquarters, and the meat along the backbone between the neck and hind quarters including the loins and tenderloins.
