The government will carry out a cattle-branding exercise in all arid counties to help deal with cattle rustling incidents.
Director of Livestock Julius Kiptarus said the activity will take place in Pokot, Turkana, Baringo, Samburu and parts of Elgeyo-Marakwet counties among other areas.
Kiptarus said the activity will be supported by donors and the government has also allocated funds in the budget to extend the programme.
He was speaking in Eldoret during a meeting with dairy farmers who have been assisted by the government and donors to double their milk production.
"It's an ongoing exercise and we plan to carry it out in areas affected by cattle rustlers so we can end the problem," said Kiptarus.
Cattle rustlers have been operating mainly in the arid counties where they still animals from one area and transport them to another region.
He said the government has deployed enough field extension officers in all areas to offer services to farmers.
