The MPs led by Turkana North MP Christopher Nakuleu said the peace caravan will start a one-week peace mission in Baringo, Turkana and Pokot counties where cattle theft has been rampant.
MPs from Baringo and Pokot counties will join their Turkana counterparts to begin peace crusades to end cattle rustling culture among the warring communities.
“Our mission is to unite the warring communities to ensure they embrace the culture of peace and harmony. We will move across the cattle rustling prone areas with their leaders to preach peace among the communities,” Nakuleu said.
The MP hinted the President is expected to address a joint peace caravan later in the week at Turkwel power plant along the Turkana –Border. “We do not want leaders to politicise the President’s trip to the region. This is purely a peace mission meant to bring healing and reconciliation,” Nakuleu told leaders in Lodwar.
Loima Constituency MP Protus Akuja decried rampant cattle rustling in the region. He said dozens of people have been displaced by raids in his area and claimed the Government was doing little to stop this. More....
