Poachers are killing jackals in Sun Valley for their skins and have killed eight of the animals.
One jackal escaped death but was seriously injured.
Mandy Collins from Sun Valley Residents Association said the poaching had been taking place over the past few weeks.
"A horse groom saw the poachers late one Tuesday night with sticks and dogs. They went into the jackals' den and attacked them."
Collins said she had spoken to the groom who said the poachers were proud of their deeds.
"Another two residents have chased away poachers who were tracking hares with dogs. Many snares have been found in open fields in the valley too.
"Paul Griffiths from Midrand Sector 4 Crime Forum and I released six guinea fowl from these snares which were thankfully still alive," Collins said.
Collins asked anyone who had information on the poachers to let either her or Griffiths know. She said there was a reward for information leading to an arrest.
