The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 4, Mr. Michael Zuokumor, on Friday ordered the Plateau Police Command to curb the menace of cattle rustling in the state.
Zuokomur, who gave the order during a one-day official visit to the command in Jos, said that cattle rustling had been causing problems in the state.
He said cattle rustling had been causing the death of many people within Plateau and neighbouring states of Kaduna and Nasarawa States.
Zuokomur said, “The command should evolve strategies that will curb the cattle rustling to the barest minimum so that peace will return permanently to Plateau.
“The police investigative operatives should do everything within their powers to unearth those perpetuating this heinous crime so that innocent people will not be killed.”
According to him, the conflict between the farmers and pastoralists within the zone is being solved through dialogue.
The AIG said that the performance of the Commissioner of Police in Plateau was impressive as the crises had been reduced to the barest minimum.
Zuokomur urged all the officers and men to put in their best while performing their duties of protecting lives and property. More....
