Tharaka Nithi governor Samuel Ragwa has asked the central government to deploy Anti Stock theft police in his county.
Speaking to Journalists in Chuka town Ragwa said the County faces many cases of cattle rustling in Tharaka North and South.
“People especially from Tharaka lose their cattle after being raided. The residents here depend on cattle rearing as their main source of income since its semi arid. We are often exposed to cattle rustling from neighboring communities”, said Ragwa.
Ragwa added that plans are underway to boost livestock farming in Tharaka by supplying enough water to farmers from river Mutonga and Maara.
