Law enforcement officers arrested a London teen and ticketed another man early Saturday morning after a Hilltop Drive resident reported the men were hunting deer from a pickup truck.
Officers with the Russellville Police Department and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission responded to an area between Marina Way and Highland Drive where shots were reported fired around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. The teen was held Saturday morning at the Pope County Detention Center for public intoxication and later posted bail, a jail spokesperson said Tuesday.
Russellville Police Department spokesperson Drew Latch deferred questions about the incident to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Eric Pratt, the wildlife officer who responded Saturday, was unavailable Tuesday, an employee of the commission's west central office in Russellville said.
Police discovered a rifle in the road when they arrived at the scene and later removed a deer from the area, according to a dispatch narrative released by the Russellville Police Department. No other details were available Tuesday afternoon.
It was unclear from information released Tuesday by Russellville police which of the men received the citation and for what offense the citation was issued.
