People who illegally kill or sell antlered white-tailed deer will now face tougher penalties.
Governor Snyder signed a measure Tuesday that raises restitution for illegally killing a trophy buck to at least $2,000 or more depending on how many points the deer has.
The law also says those convicted of illegally killing a deer must wait longer to get a hunting license.
Individuals who violate the law now pay $1,000 in restitution and have to wait three years for a hunting license.
