OAK HARBOR, Ohio — Two people were taken into custody for allegedly poaching a deer in Ottawa County, officials said.
The suspects have not yet been charged, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said deputies were dispatched to Portage River Road near O’Neal Road on Friday on a call of a “poaching in process.”
An on-scene deputy was told a deer was killed the night before, but the suspects returned for the carcass. The deputy also was told that one suspect was driving away and the other was on foot in a field, according to the sheriff’s office. The driver was found and apprehended.
A short time later, an officer from the Department of Natural Resources found and took the second suspect into custody.
