ALABEL, Sarangani – Two notorious bandits involved in cattle rustling and robbery incidents in the hinterland villages of Glan, this province, have surrendered to boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao.
Brothers Roland and Jiboy Maguan, who belong to the Valdez Maguan bandit group, yielded to Pacquiao instead to local security officials, saying they have their trust on the boxing icon to help them in their new life.
Their surrender had been facilitated by public school teacher Michelle Lambot who is assigned in Sitio Kapanglao, Barangay Datal Bukay, Glan.
“They (surrenderees) appealed to me if I could facilitate their surrender with Congressman Pacquiao whom I contacted to relay the request of the Maguan brothers,” Lambot said.
Pacquiao sent his helicopter last Thursday to fetch them from the mountain village of Sitio Lanao Kapanglao and were taken to the provincial capitol here where they were met by Pacquiao.
He lauded the Maguan brothers for their intention to surrender to him and assured them that he will provide them with livelihood assistance to start a new life.
Pacquiao also called on other lawless armed groups, including communist rebels, to surrender and avail themselves of the government ’s reconciliation and peace process.
