The District forest department, continuing its 'capture wild elephants elephants' operation have captured two wild tuskers near Iguru forest area in Sakaleshpur taluk in the district.
Official sources said that both the elephants were tranquilised at a private coffee estates at two different places.
While one is about 25 years old, another is 15 years old.
Under the operation taken up as per Court direction, the department has captured 10 elephants so far. It is for the first time that two elephants have been caught in a single day since the operation began in November 2013.
The department would continue to track the movement of wild elephants and attempt to capture few more in the coming days. The department was mandated to capture 25 elephants causing trouble in Alur and Sakleshpur taluks for which the high court had issued an order in this connection.
