TUCSON- Arizona Game and Fish is looking for information regarding the shooting of five deer in Redington Pass last week.
Game and Fish say a White-tail doe, two yearlings, and two fawns were found shot dead near mile marker 14.8 on either August 21 or August 22.
"Poaching is not hunting, it's stealing wildlife from the citizens of the state," said Regional Supervisor Raul Vega of Game and Fish in Tucson. "We hope that someone who saw or heard something will come forward. With the start of hunting season upon us, this is an unfortunate reminder that no true sportsman would tolerate this kind of conduct."
Game and Fish is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual or individuals responsible and both the Arizona chapter of Safari Club International and the Arizona Deer Association are offering a $500 reward after the conviction.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Operation Game Thief at 1-800-352-0700 or online at http://www.azgfd.gov/ogt_form.shtml.
