Three Jackson men accused of stealing a four-wheeler and four head of cattle are the latest arrests made in what may not seem like a modern-day crime: cattle rustling.
Robert L. Grayer, Cory J. Surrell and Samuel L. Michael face charges of livestock theft and grand larceny in connection with the thefts that occurred on Pinehaven Drive in Hinds County. Mike McGowan, lead investigator with the state Department of Agriculture and Commerce’s Mississippi Agricultural and Livestock Theft Bureau, made the arrests with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department.
Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner Cindy Hyde-Smith urged livestock owners to brand their livestock for identification purposes to deter theft.
She said the cattle taken in this case were youth 4-H show cows.
