JOHANNESBURG – A total of four suspected rhino poachers have been arrested at a private game farm in Lephalale in Limpopo.
Officials say one of the suspects was apprehended earlier today following a tip-off.
An unlicensed rifle was also recovered.
The police’s Hangwani Mulaudzi said, “We’re trying to link them to other cases and hope to take them to court tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, three rhino poachers arrested at another private game reserve in Hoedspruit, also in Limpopo, have been remanded in custody.
Authorities say the trio was arrested at the weekend when they were caught with rhino horn, rifles and axes.
Muluadzi said the suspects will appear again in court soon.
Almost 800 rhino have been poached in South Africa this year [sic\.
