The Air Force is to increase monitoring activities of the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) which is often breached by Indian fishermen.
Newly appointed Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Kolitha Gunatillake said that the Air Force will provide information to the relevant authorities on Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters.
“We need to increase our monitoring activities. We will use our planes and equipment to monitor and provide information to the relevant Ministries and authorities on Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters,” he said.
The new Air Force Chief said this after visiting the Kandy Temple of the Tooth this morning to obtain blessings for his new role.
