DELHI, Ont. - A Toronto man learned the hard way that it's OK to look but not touch when it comes to endangered animals.
Sidney Daniels was fined $3,125 also given 70 hours of community service after being caught with an eastern fox snake, listed as an endangered species, and Blanding's turtles - a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.
Court heard on Feb. 20 that Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers and wildlife officers with Environment Canada responded to a report that someone was collecting wildlife from Long Point on shores of Lake Erie.
The area is designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve because of its biological significance.
