BAHRAICH: A herd of elephants attacked a villager and injured him at Bharthapur village near Gerua river at Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday night.
The injured man kept lying in the forest unconscious the whole night. In the morning, villagers spotted him lying there and informed the forest department. He was admitted at the community health centre in Mihipurwa on Saturday morning. His leg and backbone got fractured. The man's condition was stated to be serious. Ramnath (45) went to a grocery shop at Vishnupur village on Friday evening.
A herd of elephants coming from Nepal attacked and injured him when he was returning home through the dense forests. The forest department paid Rs 2,500 as financial aid to his family.
