A renowned thief-tracker, Alh Shehu Aljan on Thursday said he has recovered over 6,000 cattle from cattle rustlers believed to be terrorising cattle breeders in the north.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Zaria, he said the recovered cattle were from Kaduna, Nasarawa, Bauchi states and part of the Federal Capital Territory.
Aljan said that apart from that, he also arrested 25 cattle rustlers believed to be terrorising Nasarawa State.
“I have arrested 23 at Gude town, one close to Lafia, who slaughtered a cattle rearer and another rustler,” he stated.
He however lamented that some of the arrested thieves used the influence of traditional rulers in Nasarawa State to gain freedom. Aljan added that there was the need for traditional rulers to avoid any form of interference on security matters.
The thief-tracker tasked the new administration of the APC on the need for consistent measures to check the menace of cattle rustling in the country.
