Authorities are looking for those responsible of training fighting dogs in a children’s playground in Enfield, UK.
According to the council, the facilities in the two-month-old Forty Hall park have had to be repaired three times already due to being ‘repeatedly wrecked’ by dogs forced to hang from their jaws in strengthening exercises.
Cllr Chris Bond, a Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Protection, said: “I find it absolutely astonishing that anyone is stupid enough train fighting dogs, but to do so in a children’s playground shows quite remarkable levels of idiocy and selfishness.
“There have been too many reports of young children being attacked by dogs in recent year, so to actual train a fighting dog in a playground and condition it to behave violently around play equipment which is routinely used by toddlers is one of the most despicable things I’ve heard in a long time.
“These people are a menace to society and should be utterly ashamed of themselves. We want to catch them before one of these dogs attacks someone.
“This wanton vandalism is completely unacceptable and it is costing us a fortune to repeatedly replace the equipment which is being damaged.”
The council announced plans to install CCTV cameras and increase park guards and police patrols in an effort to catch the abusers fast.
According to the League Against Cruel Sports, ‘enforcement agencies have reported a 400% increase in dog fighting cases in recent years across the UK.’
