Forty rhino horns have been stolen at the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) headquarters at Mataffin in Nelspruit.
Hawks spokesperson, Paul Ramoloko, says the horns were kept at the MTPA for safety reasons. Ramoloko says this is a syndicate activity.
“It is clear that this is a syndicate activity and we are confident that the culprit will be brought to book not long a distance.”
Ramaloko says that their members are still at the crime scene. "These are rhino horns which were poached but horns were not removed. Once these horns were removed we kept them at this strict facility for safe keeping reasons,” explains Ramoloko.
No one has been arrested so far.
