(Sheridan, Wyo.) – The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information leading to the apprehension of those responsible for the illegal killing of three elk in Sheridan County.
The elk were killed on private ranches northwest of Parkman. It appears the elk were shot from the road. Two of the three elk were mature bulls. The head and some meat were taken from one bull, but no attempt was made to retrieve the head or meat of the other bull. The third elk was loaded whole and removed from the site of the kill.
Dayton Game Warden Dustin Shorma says, “Although we always see some illegal activity during the winter months in Sheridan County, the last two winters we have seen a huge increase in elk poaching activity in the northwest area of the county.” Shorma continued, “Through increased patrolling of the area we have been able to successfully close cases on six individuals responsible for some of the poaching activity. Hopefully, someone will come forward with information that will lead to a conviction on the unsolved cases.”
A cash reward is available to any individual that provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the illegal and intentional killing of these three elk.
