The Hawks say the three arrested could be connected to a bigger abalone poaching syndicate.
CAPE TOWN – The Hawks says it suspects three men who were arrested in an abalone bust in Port Elizabeth could be part of a bigger syndicate.
The trio were arrested on Monday with about five tons of abalone in their possession.
The Hawks' Paul Ramaloko says, “We found an abalone drying plant to the tune of millions. Our team is still on the crime scene, counting all the abalone. The suspects will appear in court on Wednesday on charges of dealing in abalone.”
