Local game officials are still searching for the poachers who illegally killed animals in recent months.
A bull elk was killed in the Big Horns, near Dayton, out of season and left to rot. Only the head and backstraps of the animal were removed. The information comes from Bud Stewart of the Sheridan office. He said the investigation on that incident and another have stalled out.
The game official said they’re still hoping that someone saw or remembers something that might help them apprehend the poachers. Anonymous tips can be called in on the Stop Poaching hotline or to the Sheridan office. The numbers are: 1-877-WGFD-TIP /877-943-3847; or Sheridan Regional Office -- 307-672-7418.
