A guard was attacked and killed by a buffalo on Monday night at Kongoni Sanctuary in Naivasha.
The guard's body was found on Tuesday morning after he went missing on Monday evening as he left his work place in the sanctuary.
The body was found in a thicket with bruises.
A witness said calls to the guard's mobile phone on Monday evening were going through but were not answered, raising fears that all was not well.
Naivasha deputy police boss Agnes Amojong said said it is still unclear how the death occurred, but she was certain that injuries on the body were caused by a buffalo.
"We suspect that the guard was caught offguard by the buffalo as he left his place of work," she said.
In the last couple of months, at least six people have been killed either by buffalo or hippos around Lake Naivasha.
The most affected areas are Ndabibi, Moi Ndabi, Kasarani, Longonot, Mai Mahiu and Kikopey in Gilgil.
This has led to mass demonstrations by residents.
