Interior Secretary Joseph ole Lenku has said the government will not watch as the country sinks due to insecurity. Lenku said the security apparatus is alert.
He said security agents will be provided with armoured vehicles and bullet proof vests to enable them tackle insecurity in the country.
"We have already acquired two armoured vehicles and others are coming. We do not want this nonsense of cattle rustling and invasion into private lands," Lenku said.
He was speaking during a security meeting with Laikipia county leaders and residents in Nanyuki town on Friday. Lenku warned politicians against inciting people into lawlessness saying they will be prosecuted and jailed.
"I hear some of them saying they will become heroes when they are jailed. We shall jail them for life," he warned.
Laikipia Senator GG Kariuki, Laikipia East MP Anthony Mutahi, his Laikipia West counterpart Wachira Karani and county women's representative Jane Appolos complained bitterly over rampant cattle rustling and private lands invasions.
They said these are orchestrated by people from the neighbouring counties of Samburu, Isiolo and Baringo.
