Kenya Wildlife Services Director William Kiprono has condemned individuals using the poaching menace to solicit money from donors.
Speaking at Voi during the World Elephant Day celebrations yesterday, he said they will not tolerate the business.
Kiprono said as some individuals poach with guns, others are using pens.
He said some people are using poaching to do business. Kiprono said individuals take pictures of dead elephants and post them on Facebook to solicit funds from donors.
Kiprono said it is shameful for people to kill wildlife instead of protecting them.
"Kenya's elephant population has suffered from the same challenges as other elephant populations in the world. This day presents a platform for creating awareness on the plight of elephants emanating from poaching, habitat loss and human-elephant conflict, "said the director.
