A Kibera court yesterday declined to release on bail a Vietnamese charged with having Sh12 million ivory. Vu Anh Tuan appeared before senior principal magistrate Lucas Onyina for the ruling on his bond application.
He was arrested on May 15 at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in transit from Maputo, Mozambique to Hanoi, Vietnam.
Tuan was allegedly found with seven rhino horn, 1.2kg carnivore teeth, 0.4kg carnivore claws and 0.96kg rhino tails. Onyina said the prosecution gave compelling reasons to support their stand against bond. He said Tuan does not have a fixed abode and will abscond.
