This refers to the news " Army kills leopard in Islamabad ". It is a disturbing news to animal lovers. Even though the leopard had injured some persons in the area. Still killing the animal was not the last option in such crisis. The police and army should have informed the wildlife department officials who know how to tackle situations like this. The animal could have been sedated with hypnotics and further damage could have been prevented. There was no need of killing an endangered member of this species, that too a female animal with two cubs delivered a couple of months back.
Government officials saying that they ordered a probe is just an eyewash. Probes never yield results in Kashmir valley. An animal has been killed, a government probe cannot bring it back to life. But government in general and wildlife department in particular should issue strict guidelines for such situations and start a helpline number meant for such situations.
