The news in this update is bleak. Six rhino have been lost in KwaZulu-Natal over the past two weeks, two of them vulnerable black rhino.
Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife's Lawrence Munroe - who coordinates the ZAP-Wing - says one of the black rhinos was killed in a snaring incident.
He says the four white rhino lost were shot dead by poachers - three in private reserves and one in an Ezemvelo reserve.
Lawrence says they're all devastated by the bloodshed, adding that there was another sinister, and worrying element.
Nationally over 820 rhino have been poached in South Africa this year - more than 530 of these in Kruger National Park.
Interestingly, Namibia's government has begun dehorning rhinos in response to increased poaching levels. That country has lost 14 rhinos this year. Audiofile.
