CHANDRAPUR: Forest officials have seized a leopard skin and arrested five poachers at Kodegaon village in Mulchera tehsil of Gadchiroli since last two days. Forest officials of Perigudam have also confiscated wire snares which were used to trap the beast in a farm.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by ACF Deepak Tirpude raided a farmer's house at Kodegaon village on Thursday evening and seized a leopard skin from the place. Three persons were arrested and several snares used for poaching recovered.
Sources claimed the leopard was poached around four months ago. The beast was trapped in the snares laid for herbivores intruding the farm. During interrogation, the trio gave names of their three other accomplices.
On Friday afternoon, foresters managed to arrest two of the three absconding accused. Hunt is on for the sixth accused. DCF, Allapalli, Hemantkumar Mina confirmed seizure of leopard skin and arrest of the poachers, but refused to give their names and case details.
