The Manitoba Wildlife Federation wants a crackdown on illegal moose hunting.
This after the Manitoba Natural Resources Officers Association released disturbing pictures on Facebook.
The posting features photos of poached moose taken from along highways near the Grass River Provincial Park.
One of the animals killed was pregnant with two calves.
MWF President, Brian Strauman says with moose numbers so low, survival is important. “Whoever killed the cow moose in the picture on the MNROA site actually killed three moose. Those calves would have been born in just a few more months,” he said.
He adds he’s at a loss at the province’s lack of financial commitment to agressively enforce game laws. “Much more needs to be done or there will be no moose left for anyone,” Strauman added.
