SHERIDAN — Two of three men cited for poaching had a status hearing Thursday before Judge Shelley Cundiff in Sheridan County Circuit Court.
Ronnie Fisher and Clayvin Herrera were cited in October in connection with three elk killed in January near Eskimo Creek in the Bighorn Mountains. Colton Herrera was cited as well, but has retained a lawyer and has a court date schedule in March.
Neither Fisher nor Clayvin Herrera have retained attorneys, and they suggested to Cundiff that they may chose to represent themselves should they not find an attorney soon. The men said they planned to argue a tribal rights defense.
Both Fisher and Clayvin Herrera have waived their right to a speedy trial. Cundiff told them to return in 30 days for another status conference.
Clayvin Herrera is employed by Fish and Game with the Crow Nation where he is a lieutenant in the enforcement division.
