Katsina — Police in Katsina State have arrested 15 suspected cattle rustlers, among them are three children aged between 10-14 years.
The state Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bala Zama Senchi, told newsmen that cattle rustlers now involve children in the act to evade arrest. He said the rustlers ask the children to take care of rustled animals while they watch from a distance.
"Rustlers believe that the police can't arrest the kids, so if we let them go, the crime will continue. We apprehend the children to get information from them. Parents should always monitor their children so that they are not used for criminal activities. The children are well taken care of and as soon as we are done with investigation, they will be released," he said.
He said a total of 533 cows were recovered and that they are currently being identified by their respective owners for collection.
