North West Parks and Tourism Board says two more rhino have been poached in the province.
This brings the provincial count of poached rhino to 10 this year.
The incident comes after the Lehurutshe Magistrate Court near Zeerust sentenced Hans Skhosana to 10 years imprisonment.
He had pleaded guilty to poaching rhino at the Botsalano Game Reserve, near the Ramatlabama-Botswana border.
Skhosana's co-accused, Collen Buthelezi is set to appear in the Lehurutshe Magistrate's Court on the 26th of next month pending legal assistance from the Legal Aid Board, as his attorney recused himself.
The Parks Board's Manager of Protected Areas, Eric Madamala explains: “We have noted an increase in the number of rhino poaching as projected nationally. In the province so far we have lost about 10 rhino with the latest shot or poached last night around the Rustenburg area. So far there hasn't been any arrest.”
