BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - PETA is calling on the Kern County Fair to stand up against animal cruelty or face protests if their demands aren't met.
Officials with the animal-rights organization say they want the fair to stop their elephant rides on their exhibit called "Have Trunk Will Travel."
PETA says they have video which shows the electro-shocking and beating of elephants, but it's not clear if the video is of elephants that will be participating at the Kern County Fair.
The animal-rights group also said captive elephants are known to lash out and can cause accidents for the children riding them.
The protest is scheduled for next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Kern County Fairgrounds.
