Beltangady: Sub-divisonal branch of Forest Department, Beltangady, arrested three persons in connection with hunting animal categorized under endangered species in Charmadi forest on Wednesday, June 4.
Suresh (30) hailing from Puduvettu, Krishnappa (28), resident of Kakkinje and Mohan (18) of Puduvettu were caught with the poached Indian mouse-deer also called 'Barinka' in local parlance. The animal is classified in the list of endangered species by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The operation was led by sleuth Kumaraswamy. The accused were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
