Guwahati: After a series of rhino poaching incidents in and around the famous Kaziranga National Park, the police in Nagaon district managed to arrest three persons on Saturday and recovered a rhino horn from their possession.
According to information, the police got a tip-off that a few persons were trying to smuggle out a rhino horn from the country.
Based on this information, the police immediately swung into action and a raid was carried out in Juria area of Nagaon district. In that raid, three persons were arrested and from their possession a rhino horn was recovered, said the police.
The arrested persons were identified as Abdul Samad, Asar Ali and Nasir Uddin. The fourth person, Akbar Ali, is still absconding, said the police.
It may be mentioned here that, rhino poaching had become a cause of concern as in current year alone six rhino have been poached in Assam.
All attempts of anti-poaching operation appears to be going in vain as poaching of rhino, an endangered species continues unabated, leading to growing concern among wildlife conservationists and lovers alike.
