BHOPAL: Forest officers on Thursday arrested three people on charges of poaching a spotted deer in Chhatarpur district. Carcass of poached deer, a 315-bore rifle and cartridges were confiscated from them.
Arrest was made by the flying squad at Bijawar forest range. Those arrested were identified as Rajesh Prajapati, Gopal Singh and Deendayal Rai, all residents of Majguan area. Their motorcycle was also impounded. They left the deer and tried to escape the spot, but to no avail. Forest officials chased and got them arrested after some distance. They have been charged under different provisions of Wildlife Protection Act 1972. During interrogation, they revealed that they had killed spotted deer earlier also.
