Fantastic Mr Fox would run for his life if he ever met Lucia Mocnay.
The Truganina artist has made a hobby out of preserving foxes with taxidermy and dressing them up to be characters from children’s fairytales, myths and historical eras.
Ms Mocnay, a self-taught taxidermist, said she had been doing anthropomorphic taxidermy for about three years.
She teamed up with Altona Meadows photographer Aglaia Bolis to create the photo series Anthropomorphic Ancestry a year later.
Ms Mocnay said each photoshoot was themed on the era of what character the fox was representing, and said taxidermy and anthropomorphic animals had been rising in popularity so she wanted to bring them to life.
Ms Bolis said it allowed people to create their own stories.
