Locally the Mexican Navy and several hotels try to rescue the turtle eggs before poachers, dogs or other animals can get to them, and they are saved in protected nesting areas until they hatch and are immediately released into the ocean at dusk. If you spot someone you suspect of being a poacher please try to take their photo and let them know they are being watched. They may be with the good guys, but you never know. You can also always call the Marinos at 554-6070 and they will come for the eggs. I suspect they may be the folks who removed the eggs from nests you saw "disturbed". Photos.
