HETAUDA: Locals of Manhari VDC in Makwanpur were relocated to Godamchaur by the government three months ago after they were constantly bothered by wild beasts from the nearby park. However, the terror of wild beasts has not gone away.
After continuous efforts to resolve the problem, folks at wards 5 and 6 were transferred to Manhari’s Godamchaur to relieve them of the fear of elephants and rhinoceros from Chitwan National Park.
Anjita Rai, a local from Godamchaur, complained that wild elephants had damaged paddy, maize and millet crops and destroyed houses in her locality. “They have destroyed crops planted in three kattha land,” Rai said. Bhagawati Rai, local, said that they were often visited by wild animals during the nights.
