JEWELL COUNTY, Kan. - UPDATE: The Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust is offering up to $5,000 for information about the person or persons responsible for shooting and killing seven pelicans earlier this month.
Jewell County Game Warden Mike Peterson found the pelicans at Lovewell Reservoir September 12th. Pelicans are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and violation of this Act can result in fines and jail time.

The Jewell County Game Warden is looking for the person responsible for shooting down seven American White Pelicans.
He found the birds shot and left to waste Saturday in southeast Jewell County at Lovewell Reservoir. The Pelicans are federally protected birds. The Kansas Wildlife, Parks and Tourism Game Wardens Facebook page says the birds were killed within the last few days.
