The people of Kampung Lukut near here are living in fear of two wild elephants which had been rampaging in the vicinity of their village over the last two days, destroying their oil palm and banana crops.
The villagers have lodged a police report.
Last Friday, the elephants destroyed oil palm trees and banana plants near the village and damaged a shed near a house.
One of the villagers, Roslan Dahlan, found that his young crop of oil palm on 2.43 hectares had been destroyed by the elephants over two nights.
Roslan, 49, said the villagers feared to move about freely at night for fear of being attacked by the elephants.
